Reattaching Plaster to Wooden Lath
Hollow-sounding areas and visible deflection indicate broken keys behind the plaster where it no longer grips the lath. Vibration or minor structural movement commonly causes this progressive failure.
Screws with plaster washers draw the face back into contact, followed by injection of adhesive or new plaster behind the surface. Only deteriorated sections are replaced with matching material.
The ceiling or wall becomes solid again and the original surface profile is maintained. Schedule an inspection when tapping reveals widespread looseness. National Plaster Restoration can be reached at (833) 874-1801.
